We've carefully chosen a list of the top HP laptops to assist you based on our own knowledge, skills, and first-hand evaluations as well as those of our sibling websites and larger network of connections.

A number of aspects were taken into account, such as specs, power, display, features and price. And based on our research, we have selected the best HP laptop for a variety of uses.

If you're looking for the best HP laptop for image editing, the ZBook Studio G8 is our recommendation.

Even at its most basic, it has more than enough power for casual image editing, and if you opt for the more expensive sets, you'll discover that it can handle even the most demanding creative software. • While the term "cheap" is ambiguous here, the HP Pavilion Aero 13 will meet your needs for high build quality and performance if you don't have a lot of money to spend. Unlike most of the HP laptop lineup, it's powered by an AMD CPU that offers plenty of power, and its magnesium alloy frame makes it incredibly lightweight.

Its 13.3-inch display is crisp and bright, and its wide range of ports will excite anyone who wants to attach a multitude of accessories. There's even a fingerprint sensor for quick logins. Of course there are some drawbacks; the webcam isn't very good, for example, and the trackpad is plastic, but these are minor complaints.

  • Reasons To Buy
  • Good battery life

  • The HP Envy x360 is a sleek little laptop that doubles as a tablet thanks to its touchscreen capabilities and 360-degree flexible hinge. It has a smaller 13.3-inch screen than the previously mentioned HP Spectre x360, making it lighter and more portable. Depending on your personal needs, this is a point to consider.

This laptop has a state-of-the-art Intel Core i7 CPU and a staggering 16GB of RAM. It's a great option for students and business people alike, combining the portability of a tablet with the power of a laptop.

The HP Envy x360 not only has superior build quality, but also delivers excellent performance that is ideal for a variety of tasks. Whether you're working on routine computing tasks or just unwinding with a movie, this laptop succeeds in every way. It's a great option for people who want adaptability without compromising on performance or looks.

While it doesn't actually arouse hostility, it undoubtedly has enough power to handle both creative projects and normal business tasks with ease. It's not the most powerful machine, with facilities up to the Intel Core i7 CPU, but it can easily handle most of the design software.

HP Envy 13 is made of solid metal and feels solid. The user experience is further enhanced by the sharpness of the 13.3-inch display and the ergonomic keyboard. As we mentioned in our review, this computer delivers unwavering performance without any compromises. It's important to note, though, that we have concerns about its plastic touchpad.

HP EliteBook 840 G9 - The best HP business laptop at a reasonable price

    HP EliteBook 840 G9

The best HP business laptop at a reasonable price
    Specifications
  • CPU: Intel Core i5-i7
  • GPU: Intel Iris Xe graphics
  • Memory: 8-64GB
  • Storage: 256GB-2TB SSD
  • Display: 14 inches
  • Reasons To Buy
  • Great battery life
  • Bright, tall screen
  • Powerful i7 processor
  • Reasons To Avoid
  • Speakers are serviceable at best
  • The best HP business laptop at the moment is the Elite Dragonfly G3 (see below). However, its price is high. So if you don't want 4K resolution or absolutely top-notch hardware, the HP EliteBook 840 G9 is a great deal.

Thanks to the laptop's powerful Intel Core i7 CPU, everything runs fast and performed well in our benchmark test. The 14-inch display's 162 PPI pixel density is more than enough for everyday photo editing and digital art creation. It's unusual to have so many ports these days, so if you're like me, you'll find it's quite convenient for attaching external keyboards, mice, portable hard drives and other devices.

I was surprised by the battery life of this laptop, and equally surprised by how well the business-specific security software works, while the Windows Hello-enabled camera and fingerprint sensor provide a further level of security.

HP ZBook Fury 17 G8 - The best HP laptop for video editing

    HP ZBook Fury 17 G8

The best HP laptop for video editing
    Specifications
  • CPU: Intel Core i5-Xeon
  • GPU: NVIDIA RTX A2000-RTX A5000
  • Memory: 8-128GB
  • Storage: 256GB-2TB SSD
  • Display: 17.3 inches
  • Reasons To Buy
  • Gorgeous touchscreen
  • Workstation performance
  • Reasons To Avoid
  • Really heavy
  • Poor battery life
  • The HP ZBook Fury 17 G8 is the best option if you need a PC that won't crash when faced with a stack of 4K movies, because a typical laptop isn't really enough if your profession involves a lot of video. While this compact workstation doesn't have the most glamorous design, it looks very powerful, especially when you start adding more powerful features.

High performance comes at a price, of course, and you'll also discover that this is not one of the most portable laptops. It's big and heavy and the battery life isn't very long, so you shouldn't rely on it when you're not near a power outlet.

HP Elite Dragonfly G3 - The best premium HP laptop for business

    HP Elite Dragonfly G3

The best premium HP laptop for business
    Specifications

  • GPU: Intel Iris Xe Graphics
  • Memory: 8-32GB
  • Storage: 256GB-2TB SSD
  • Display: 13.3in touchscreen
  • Reasons To Buy
  • Versatile form factor
  • Spectacular specs and features
  • Reasons To Avoid
  • Very expensive
  • The HP Elite Dragonfly is the best option on the market right now if you're looking for one of HP's best business laptops and have money to burn. Updated for 2022, the HP Elite Dragonfly G3 ditches the 2-in-1 in favor of a purer premium ultraportable strategy. The larger 3:2 aspect display on this tiny 13.5-inch form factor is something we like. The small design and excellent connectivity including USB4, USB-A and full-size HDMI are both advantages.

The 12th Gen Intel CPU is well-specced too, with a big battery that lasts surprisingly long for this class of device and much better connectivity than you'd expect given its ultra-thin chassis.

The fingerprint scanner for entering Windows is one of those little unnecessary features; some people find it gimmicky, others might think it's a nice security enhancement. In addition, the keyboard is quite pleasant to use. The cost is high and performance is slow at times. But overall, this is a really good option for a professional laptop. We don't yet know when the G2023 will be released, although it was unveiled at CES 4.

  • Reasons To Avoid
  • Poor sound quality
  • Patchy software configuration

This laptop offers an attractive package at a surprisingly attractive price point and is equipped with a reliable 12th generation Intel CPU, Intel's Arc graphics and exceptional battery life. With a massive 1TB SSD storage, you'll have plenty of room for your local files too. It's true that the sound quality may not be the best and HP could improve the way its core software is installed. But these minor issues don't get in the way of the great value the device offers because its appeal is so strong.

The only significant drawback we found during our experiments was that the fan could kick in earlier and more frequently than intended.

HP Omen 17 - The best HP laptop for gaming

    HP Omen 17

The best HP laptop for gaming
    Specifications
  • CPU: Intel Core i7
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070-RTX 3080

  • Display: 17.3 inches
  • Reasons To Buy
  • Great display
  • Fantastic performance
  • Reasons To Avoid
  • Quite hefty
  • Poor battery life
  • The HP Omen 17 is a gaming laptop through and through, and you know what that means: in addition to eating the most demanding design programs live, it will perfectly handle the latest games in maximum detail and with as many frames per second as you want.

While the base configuration isn't exactly cheap, it has the GeForce RTX 3070 for mobile installed inside, making it a capable graphics performer. However, you can spend a lot more on a machine with an additional 16 GB of RAM and the top-end RTX 3080, which will allow you to comfortably outperform a typical desktop PC.

HP Chromebook x2 11 - The best HP Chromebook

    HP Chromebook x2 11

    The best HP Chromebook
    Specifications
  • CPU: Qualcomm Snapdragon 7c
  • GPU: Qualcomm Adreno 618
  • Memory: 8GB
  • Storage: 128 GB eMMC
  • Display: 11 inches
  • Reasons To Buy
  • Pen included
  • Long battery life
  • Excellent touchscreen
  • Reasons To Avoid
  • Quite heavy
  • The HP Chromebook x2 11 is a Chromebook designed to convince you that Chrome OS has a place in your life. Its dazzling edge-to-edge glass finish feels elegant in your hands, and its 11-inch screen is the perfect size for viewing on the go.

While Chrome OS has some limitations (Chrome doesn't have a full version of Photoshop, for example), battery life is excellent and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7c processor inside can handle anything you can throw at it. That said, the HP Chromebook x2 11 shows adaptability and flexibility; it can be used as a tablet for surfing, gaming and drawing, or as a laptop for work.

If you're looking for a cheaper iPad Air alternative (and one without the additional keyboard fee), this is also an excellent option.
